Indian spiritual leader meets President Biden, suggests ‘peace education’ to tackle gun violence in US
An Indian spiritual leader has met with US President Joe Biden and suggested introducing “peace education” in American schools to overcome the increase in weapons violence incidents in the country.
The leader of Jain Acharya Lokesh Muni, who is currently on his way for a month to the US, met President Biden in Los Angeles last week on the sidelines of the Democratic Party.
The problem is not just a weapon, but the problem is with a mindset, the real solution is to practice the mindset in our brain,” Muni told Biden during the meeting.
We need to introduce ‘peace education’ from the elementary level itself, and if we succeed in doing this, then we will find a permanent solution,” he said.
On May 24, an armed man stormed to elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, killing 19 children and two teachers, in the shooting of the deadly school in the US in almost a decade.
Since the massacre, several celebrities from different ways of life have been interesting to ensure weapons responsibilities” in the US.
Gun is just an instrument, it is a tool, the real problem is the human brain. I don’t say this is only a monk of India or Saint Jain. This is a scientific truth, medical science also accepts that if the students’ sympathetic nervous system is more active than the parasympathetic nervous system, it will enter the inferiority complex or become so aggressive as seen by students who shoot several people in Texas and at Virginia University, ” he explained.
Weapons violence is the main cause of premature death in the US. Weapons kill more than 38,000 people and cause nearly 85,000 injuries every year, according to the American Public Health Association.
