Video From Pakistan Falsely Shared as Taliban Banning Mobile Phones
Videos that show men wearing black uniforms that destroy hundreds of cellphones with their legs are shared throughout the social media platform, claiming that it shows the Taliban who did it after imposing a prohibition of cellphones in Afghanistan. Approach that the Taliban has also introduced a death penalty for those who use cellphones.
However, we found that the video was not from Afghanistan. In the clip, Pakistani customs officials can be seen destroying the contrabanded goods confiscated on the country’s borders, which include liquor, medicine, and cellphones. In addition, no news report said the ban was in Afghanistan.
Short videos were distributed to claim that the Taliban announced a national ban on cellphones and destroyed all the cellphones they were ampit from Afghans.
Advertisement videos, we see that the Pakistani flag is seen in the arm of one of the people in the video.
Taking instructions from this, we use relevant keywords and find videos on YouTube published on December 29, 2021, which records that Pakistani customs officials destroy liquor and drugs.
