As offline classes resume at PU, students stranded in Afghanistan left worried
When the Panjab University Department (PU) has begun to reopen the staggering way, Varsity Afghanistan students who are currently back home, are still waiting for a visa to return to India, who have made them worry about losing class.
PU has last week’s department to start the physical class for postgraduate (PG) and under-Postgraduate (UG) students (UG), after that several departments have been reopened and others will soon follow. However, Afghan students are still uncertain about the timeline when they will be able to return.
Sahar Noor, 24, a student at the University of Public Works (UIAMS) Institute of Management, expressed disappointment because he could not attend the offline class starting from February 17 for the batch. “We are waiting for the publication of a visa and until then, there must be some arrangements, so we are not academically infention,” he said.
Najmuddin Sarhadi, 28, a student at the Computer Science Department and the application, said, “If we cannot attend offline classes, we will lose academically and can face problems related to attendance.”
Students have been waiting for months now and there is no clarity when the visa will be provided. We know that this is not in the hands of the university, but until the visa is issued, online lectures must be available to us, “said Abdul Qahar Mohammadzai, 30, an MBA student at the university.
