Putin And PM Modi To Meet On Friday: What’s On The Agenda
Trade and ‘boredom’ of the Indian market with Russian fertilizer will be an agenda when Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin met at Uzbekistan Friday, said Kremlin.
The meeting will take place during the top of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
There are plans to discuss the problem of the ‘saturation’ of the Indian market with Russian fertilizer and bilateral food supply,” Kremlin said in giving materials for the meeting, according to the Reuters news agency.
Both leaders are also expected to discuss the issue of strategic stability, the situation in the Asia Pacific region and bilateral cooperation in the United Nations and G20.
Conversation about the international agenda with Modi will also occur, parties will discuss the issue of strategic stability, the situation in the Asia Pacific region, and, of course, cooperation in the main multilateral format, such as the United Nations, G20 and SCO,” the official Russian news agency TASS quoted President Yuri Ushakov’s aide said, reported the PTI News Agency.
This is very important, because India will lead the UN Security Council in December, and, in 2023, India will lead SCO and will also lead the G20,” Ushakov told reporters on Tuesday.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not confirmed a meeting between Prime Minister Modi and President Putin.
This meeting will take place with an Indian background that buys crude oil from Russia, which has faced sanctions from the West due to the invasion of Ukraine.
India consistently maintains its position, with the Minister of External Affairs Dr. S Jaishankar said that Indians were unable to pay high energy prices.
I have a country with $ 2,000 per capita income. These are not people who are able to buy higher energy prices. It is my obligation and moral task to ensure that I get the best agreement that I can,” said Mr. Jaisankar. He said countries, including the US, knew India’s position and would “continue”.
Meanwhile, the trading turnover between Russia and India grew up in the first six months of 2022, the figure reached $ 11.5 billion, adding about 120 percent of the years-to-year, a report by Russian Tass agents said.
