Pakistan to spend Rs11.2b on Afghan edu sector
Pakistan has decided in principle to give Afghan scholars thousands of literacy and open a lot of the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) in Kabul.
The Ministry of Education and Professional Training has prepared a Rs11.2 billion package to ameliorate Afghanistan’s education sector and skill development.
A leading Pakistani review reported on Thursday the quantum would be spent on literacy to Afghan scholars in Pakistani universities.
It’ll also be expended on free training with hires to Afghan citizens for skill development in Islamabad, free training to 150 Afghan preceptors, 100 nursing parchment literacy and creation of a lot of AIOU in Kabul.
Dawn quoted sources as saying that a summary had been dispatched to Prime Minister Imran Khan for blessing of the backing package for Afghanistan.
The package was finalised on the directive of Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood after last week’s meeting between the Pakistani officers and a Afghan delegation.
Led by Advanced Education Minister Abdul Baqi Haqqani, the eight- member Afghan delegation has formerly visited colorful inferior organisations of the education ministry.
In Wednesday, the delegation met President Dr Arif Alvi, who promised Pakistan would help Afghanistan in digital metamorphosis of its universities and give online education to Afghan scholars.
The chairman said the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission would arrange training programmes for the Afghans in colorful fields.
Alvi added Pakistan would continue to give all possible backing to Afghanistan for the development of its education sector and capacity- structure of its institutions.
Afghanistan was passing through a delicate phase, remarked Alvi, who prompted the transnational community to give profitable and philanthropic aid to the war- torn country.
The two sides agreed to increase collaboration between advanced education institutions of the neighbouring countries.
