China Warns Of ‘Twindemic’ Risk Of Influenza, Imported Covid Cases
Beijing: Warning about the “Twindemic” potential of this winter, China’s health authority has emphasized the need for influenza prevention because flu activity in the southern province in the country has increased since September.
In the notification issued on Friday, the Chinese Health Commission has requested local officials to strengthen influenza prevention and control measures during the flu season which is added with the risk of Covid-19 cases imported, the Global Times reported.
This happened after China’s authority warned about the risk of Covid-19 infection which was imported due to the high incidence of respiratory infections in winter.
A total of 19 cases of Covid-19 imported and one local transmission infection was reported on Saturday, Xinhua reported. The Chinese National Health Commission on Sunday said that the newly added local case was reported in the Xilin League goal, the Mongolian Mongolia North China autonomous region of Mongolia China.
China’s health authority stated that influenza activity in the southern and north of the country since March was higher than the same period last year.
It comes in the background risk of import cases in China. The Global Times reports that Covid-19 and infectious respiratory diseases such as influenza can be combined and bring potential “twindemic” during this coming winter and the following spring.
Towards winter, Chinese authorities have called for strengthening monitoring and early warning mechanisms, immunizing key groups, promoting multi-disease prevention, standardizing epidemic and publicity treatment and wide mobilization.
This publication states that the last flu season group that occurs in flu cases occur in schools, childcare institutions and other places even though the overall prevalence of influenza remains relatively low.
In addition, health authorities urge the main institutions to strengthen efforts to detect, report, and handle cluster cases as early as possible.
Furthermore, China’s authority emphasized the need to improve the comfort of influenza vaccination services and increase the procurement of procurement and deployment of vaccines and information management vaccination data.
