Moscow has taken one page from the Washington manual to erode the US and England by changing the names of the ways in front of their embassies in the Russian capital.

The streets are now officially named for two separatist areas in East Ukraine where the battle is now the most fierce. Russian President Vladimir Putin acknowledged their independence in February right before sending troops to “free” them from Ukraine.

The US and the British have not recognized the “People’s Republic” Donetsk and Luhanansk, but Moscow officials said they must at least recognize a new address if they want to accept their letter.

A sign of Friday changed the name of the road in front of the British Embassy Luhanansk Republic Square Luhanansk. The US Embassy in Moscow since last month has been located in Donetsk People’s Republic Square.

However, the US has played this game much longer. In the 1980s, part 16 of St. Outside the Soviet Embassy in Washington symbolically changed its name to Andrei Sakharov Plaza, in honor of Soviet Nuclear physicists and leading human rights activists and activists.

Since 2018, the Wisconsin Avenue section in front of the new Russian Embassy symbolically called Boris Nemtsov Plaza.

Nemtsov, an opposition leader who led anti-putin protests and worked to expose official corruption, was shot dead near the Kremlin in 2015.

The Russian Embassy in London, at least for now, has kept his more polite speech at Kensington Palace Gardens.
