Signs of ‘progress’ in Russia-Ukraine talks, stock markets rally, oil dives
Russia today promised the peace talks to reduce its military operations around Kyiv and North Ukraine City Chernihiv, while Ukraine proposed neutral status with international guarantees to protect it from attacks. Ukrainian negotiator said they have proposed the status where their country will not join the alliance or host of a host of foreign troops, but will have security guaranteed in a manner similar to “Article 5”, the Collective NATO defense clause.
They identified Israel and members of NATO Canada, Poland and Turkey as a country that could help provide these guarantees.
