Taiwan asks US to speed up delivery of F-16 fighters as China threat looms large: Report
In the midst of increasing threats from China, the report has emerged that Taiwan officials have urged Washington to accelerate the delivery of F-16 jets made by the US to Taipei.
US President Joe Biden “Administration has discussed with Taiwan officials likely to accelerate the delivery of the F-16 made by America to Taiwan,” Taipei reported times quoted CNN reports.
“Sales of 22 fighter jets are approved in 2019, but Taiwan hopes to speed up the actual delivery time – which can usually take up to 10 years – especially considering Chinese provocation recently,” said the report.
This happens when “the Pentagon’s Indo Pacific command has witnessed with increasing concern because China has quickly modernized its military and improves its training with the eyes to Taiwan,” added the report.
About 150 Military Plane Liberation of the Chinese People (PLA) has made an attack in the Taiwan Air Defense Identification Zone starting October 1-5, Taipei Times reported quoting data from the Taiwan National Defense Ministry.
A series occurred when Beijing claimed full sovereignty over Taiwan, democracy from nearly 24 million people located on the southeast coast of Mainland China Mainland, despite the fact that both parties had been ruled separately for more than seven decades.
Taipei, on the other hand, has replied to Chinese aggression by increasing strategic bonds with democracy including the US, which has been repeatedly opposed by Beijing.
China also threatened that “Taiwan’s independence” means war. On June 1, China’s President Xi Jinping promised to resolve the reunion with Taiwan who was ruled and vowed to destroy any efforts of formal independence for the island.
Recently, Taipei also stated that it would not start the war with China but ‘it was prepared for it’.
