U.S. President Biden says he will run again in 2024
U.S. President Joe Biden said on April 10 he plans to run for reelection in 2024 but was not prepared to announce it yet.
I plan on running … but we’re not prepared to announce it yet,” Mr. Biden said in an interview with NBC’s “Today” show before the White House Easter Egg Roll.
Mr. Biden has said he intends to be the Democratic candidate in 2024 but has not made a formal announcement. Both Mr. Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have said they will run together.
NBC News reported that White House advisers are yet to make a final decision on launching Biden’s re-election campaign. “The decision part is over, but he resents the pressure to have to announce what he’s already decided,” a source familiar with the matter told NBC.
This comes as former US President Donald Trump faces criminal charges in the hush money case. Trump’s indictment has jumbled up the 2024 race and put him ahead of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis even in the minds of the Republicans who were growing tired of the Trump drama.
His campaign donations also picked up since his indictment in the case. Trump filed the candidacy papers to launch his 2024 presidential campaign in November last year.
